The Hand Magazine

Some of my work will be in the next issue of The Hand magazine. They feature works by printmakers and photographers in an image-heavy publication. Its a young magazine and its nice to see one dedicated to works by printmakers (and photographers too!). Ultimate friendship mag for people who make multiples. You can subscribe or purchase the next issue by clicking on this link.

Really Big Print Show

I recently shipped my work to the Really Big Print Show at the Cheltenham Centre for the Arts. One of my large silkscreens will be getting all up in the business of some other giant prints and battling it out for print supremacy. Or probably just hanging out with other prints being all awesome. Opens September 15th!

The Body, Stranger

I’ve begun working on some new pieces that examine my experiences living with MS and inflammatory arthritis. While I am lucky that my disease is so far on the mild end of the spectrum, it has nonetheless shaped me and brought me into contact with drugs and aspects of medical practice that are outside the experience of many people. I seek to bring my own adventures to light and examine them within the greater context of contemporary medicine. To start, I’ve created some small etchings that touch on the internally sensed aspect of my illnesses. Find new works under my The Body, Stranger page under the Artworks header.

When Istanbul was Constantinople…

I recently completed a small suite of prints inspired by a recent trip to Turkey. I was struck by the depth of history in the country as it seemed you couldn’t walk a block without tripping on seven layers of magical wonders from great civilizations of the past. A visit to the Cappadocia region revealed caves and churches built into a surreal landscape of spires and cliffs where Byzantinians and later Christians hid from persecution.  As a tourist, we were shown the bright sides of life in Turkey and we were humbled upon our return to see that areas we walked through just days before were now full of protesters and police. You never really get to know a country just roaming through it for a few weeks but it can definitely leave an impression that lingers beyond the visit.
